It's part of why Duel Links took off and flourished as well as it did, because at first, it was a return to the roots of Yugioh (until it became just as bad as the main game with the addition of Fur Hires setting up their spammy, negate board, and Pendulums were the killing blow) Don't like it? "Just get good" then, draw your outs. Best part is, check all over the Yugioh fanbase, I'm not alone in this disdain. Also, I don't run Mystic Mine, I just think, as said, it's a necessary evil, like Nibiru, Kaijus, FD, Called by the Grave, and the Hands traps, to combat super oppressive play from people who set up a multi-negate board on their first turn and basically play a Yugioh-themed version of Solitaire.
My response is gonna be the same to you as it is to everyone else: "That style of play isn't fun to me and I'm not ruining my love for the game to play like the people I dislike." I have the cards to make a competitive deck (and proved it to a friend when I made a Branded Eldich deck that I barely knew how to use and STILL won with, because honestly, ANYONE can spend some money, build some meta deck, and semi-pilot it, but it's more fun to play decks you actually enjoy using and that actually allow some form of interaction, not some stupid combo deck that locks your opponent out turn 1) but "negate everything and watch them scoop" is not how I play Yugioh.
So short version, "Just get good." Cool, the same argument I hear from meta players for years.
